ATLANTA — Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons have plenty of mistakes to work on during their bye week. Of course, it sure would be easier to fix the problems if they were still unbeaten as the Raiders are.

Big plays and pass defense did the Falcons in this week. Multiple times the defensive play calls were extremely questionable. At times it looked like Coach Locker was on another planet. This was never more apparent than when the score tied with 35 seconds to go in the first half.

The Falcons had just score on a long bomb to White to tie the game up and with 35 seconds left in the half. On first down the Raiders came out in 4-wide. Everyone on the planet knew they were going to throw it deep, well everyone except Coach Locker. The Falcons came out in Cover 2 and Heyward-Bay beat the CB of the ball and FS DeCoud bit on a pump fake by Palmer. That’s all Heyward-Bay need to catch a wide open pass for a 81 yard TD bomb. Extra point was good and the Raiders went up by 7.

The following kickoff was fumbled with 14 seconds to go in the game by newly acquired return specialist, Stephens-Howling. After holding the Raiders on 4th down, Sebastian Janikowski made the first of his 3 field goals. Raiders were up by 10 at the Half.

Pretty much the entire first half Raiders superstar Darren McFadden was held into check. That certainly did not last long. In the second half a physically exhausted Falcons defense could not contain him anymore. McFadden broke loose for a 53- Yard Touchdown. McFadden finished with 102 years, most of them coming in the 2nd half.

After falling behind by 10 before the half, the Falcons never were quiet able to recover. With the win the Raiders move to 5-0 on the season while the Falcons dropped to 2-4.

After the game Falcon’s coach Locker was asked how his team could play so well one week and so poorly the next. Coach Locker said; ” It has 100 % to do with the coaching. It starts with me. I did not prepare our team for this week’s game. During the game I had thinks on my mind and did not focus on the game as I should have. You have to give credit to coach Major; he had his team ready to play. They came into our house and pretty much did what they wanted to.”

In Week 7 the Falcons have a bye week, while the Raiders take on the Jaguars and their new coach.

Game Notes

- Matt Ryan threw for 322 yards, 2 TD and 2 INT. This was Ryan’s 6th 300+ Yard passing game of the season.

- The Falcons run game was shut down yet again. Only running for 19 yards and only have 298 yards on the season.

- Carson Palmer threw for 320 yards, 3 TD and 1 INT.

- Darren McFadden rushed for 102 yards and 1 TD.
